day 11: Insadong and Namsan Tower

i was so sleepy in class today :( probably due to the lack of sleep over the weekend. as usual class was super boring.

we came back to the dorm, put down our bags and i rushed to the laundry room to wash my clothes because Melissa had to go off to meet her buddy. We had lunch at the student canteen at B1 in our block. I had 부대라면 & 공기밥 (budae ramyeon and plain rice). Rice is called gong-gi bab here, aka "air rice". hahaha but anyway it was quite good! we decide to eat there more often to save money!

after that took the shuttle bus to Sinchon and we headed for Insadong! At first we couldn't really find the place where they sold all those traditional stuff/souvenirs. We walked for a while and decided to ask the Police hahahaha. So finally we found it and walked around for quite awhile. Manage to buy things for my friends :D

at the subway station, they have this tile artwork wall! it's so much nicer than the one at Chinatown station in Singapore! haha the entire place is really tourist-y.

took these while we were walking the wrong alley and couldn't find the main place of Insadong!

most starbucks in korea are not spelt in hangul! i think there is only 1.. or 2 with hangul sign? not too sure. i need to taste starbucks here once before i leave. and Coffee Prince cafe at hongdae T__T

what is at Insadong? lotsa tourists, rubbish, and teahouses. LOL not my kind of place T__T i don't rly like buying souvenirs kinda thing. like i feel like the price is jacked up and it's not worth it. bought cutleries for a friend though!

then we walked in to this alley where there is a mini... building? with some really pretty shops! it is called  Ssamziegil.

the guy on the extreme right is Japanese. LOL at first i thought he looked different. but we spoke korean to him and his korean was fine. These people are SO funny! when they demonstrate how to make the candy.. they shout the number of "strands" as they pull the candy againand again and the other 2 will follow. it's like a chorus or smthg. i didn't buy one but my friend did, a box for 5000won. it has bout 8 candies in it?

then we finally found the Miss Lee Cafe where yongseo couple filmed their 1st or 2nd "We Got Married" Episode! It is really easy to get there. Just take exit 6 at Anguk Station, walk straight for bout 100-200m and it will be on your left side, on level 2.

there were so many people! probably because of the show. They actually make traditional lunchboxes, those in metal boxes. for 5500won. But we were too full from lunch in school so we just shared a desert!

people can write qt msgs and hang it up.

this is super delicious and expensive, but worth the 15000won we paid in total! It has sherbet ice cream.. shaved ice (duh).. raisins.. all sorts of nuts.. peaches, banana, cherry tomatoes, kiwi, mochi, red bean, jelly, gummy sweets and maybe soemmore i can't rmb! we are going back again for the lunchbox and have this again!!!

then we took the subway to Myeongdong station. not to shop but to find the cable car and get to Namsan Tower. the directions my friend got weren't exactly very clear. so we asked strangers twice. and the second time, the ahjusshi was gonna explain but he just said "follow me" so we followed him and climbed some slopes. We thought he was lying or smthg but in the end we finally found the place! HAHA. one way ticket to the Tower cost 6000won. Return ticker cost 7500won. we got the one way ticket so we can take a bus down from the Tower all the way to the Subway Station.

then we took a bus down back to the Subway, climbed the crazy hill and finally got back home! today is sightseeing and shopping day. i did very little shopping, just some accessories here and there.

hehehe they have SO many accessories in this shop. of course not everything is for myself -__-

i really gotta sleep now i am so freaking tired.

tomorrow we're going to Edae again to cut my hair.. and then if the price is reasonable i'll perm it too.
